away.
it soars,
floats
glides
through the air of timelessness,
and space
within it's grasp.
a white dart
piercing the blue skies.
the crowds look up-
everybody can see you.
you look down from on high,
proud,
excited,
elevated.
the idea whose time has come.
no more waiting, this is it.
joy throngs the air,
a triumphal arrival awaits,
`twill be conquering
the savages
of your very own self.
free
liberty
carries you
to your next destination
vocation
awaits.
gone.
no going back now-
you're in the air,
banished,
exiled,
never to return.
the texts have been sent,
farewell meals
parties
parting gifts
legacies
memories.
one last squeeze.
you failed to cram the last of it into your broken suitcase,
and that person never returned you call.
the one who did,
broke you,
and the weeping couldn't even wait for you to leave the departure lounge.
now
you're crammed,
uncomfortable and suffocating,
a baby tantrum transcends the row in front and two fat immovable bloaters between you and the aisle.
nevermind the hairy old lady who is determined to give you a detailed description of all sixteen grandchildren.
or was it seventeen.
frickkin economy class.
not this again.
i didn't want this again.
i didn't choose it,
i didn't ask for it,
i would almost much rather just be
left
alone.
the cauldron of frequent goodbyes
and seldom hellos is upon us.
burning acid.
im up here,
in my little tin can,
cutting through the skies,
cutting,
cut-up,
cut-off,
isolated from the rest of the world
having fun in the park below,
and all i can here is
wailing
wailing
wailing
wailing
...dressed in white,
it is coming to take me away.
