currently listening to
hazy shade of winter,
simon and garfunkel
hazy shade of winter,
simon and garfunkel
time persists
marches on
not back,
not slowing
nor rushing,
it doesn't falter
nothing hinders it
neither
bothers it
either
and when it sees a crash
it passes by,
not pausing to look.
you can't overtake
you can't fall behind-
even if you try
it will drag it along with you
unrelenting
steady
unchanging
and quite frankly
an arse.
but
beyond
or,
later
time haunts.
it stalks,
follows,
shadows;
oftentimes as a dark glimpse
hanging in the background
yet sometimes
as a direct confrontation
when unawareness
has tricked even the most alert
and
WHAM
face to face
the memory
that face
that time
that moment
already passed by
and as its thought
flickers past
still
time persists,
what an arse.
still now
- and this is the most crushing -
moments are being made
in this marching
unceasing time
and i can't stop it
can't help it
new moments
manifesting
and then immediately
depositing
themselves into the bank
of my mind.
new memories
to lay upon the old ones:
yesterday's,
the day before's,
last year's.
just as the rain
creates a drip
cascading off a leaf's
tip
and then down
into the sea.
memories
that will come back to haunt me.
oh, pestilent persistence.
I like this, a lot.
