.46 struggle

currently listening to
senzenina,
zulu protest song

amidst the batons
amidst the rubber bullets
amidst the burning of the police motorcycles
amidst the man, necklaced
burning too
and amidst the shouts and yells and cries and shrieks
of pain
of despair
of anger and hate
- the friction
between two opposers,
a right one,
a wrong one.

amidst the letters
that plea
the overtired eyes
that search
the rousing songs
that reach,
though to what
we're scared to hope...
amidst lives lost
by letterbomb
and suicide
and the grief,
amidst that too;
beyond
and below,
within.

deeper than it all,
or
further than it all,
through-out
and
through-in it all,

there is more.

there is a goal,
there is a place, a being,
frictionless
that is where this is all headed.

where we are headed.

because it is necessary,
and as it lengthens
and as it intensifies
it brightens the freedom of the prize.

struggle;

it is not a bad thing.
