i think what happened
is that i left it for a while
- as you do,
in a drawer
safe and sound -
expecting to come back and retrieve it when i wanted to,
as i had left it.
only when i got there
the cupboard was bare
(or, at least, the bananas had blackened
and started to make the room smell).
and it was then,
in the over-ripe air
that i realised that this isn't something that i'm supposed to put on hold.
because if i do,
it doesn't completely disappear exactly,
just shrivels up and withers into,
i dunno,
compost or something.
seen from the opposite way,
i guess the point is that
i reckon belief can't be exterminated.
feel free to disagree, but i think that once you're there,
(wherever 'there' is,)
you're there,
even when you think you're not.
and however much you try covering
and burying
and flinging into the inferno
(i sizzled a cockroach with a hot iron once - they're another good example),
you can't really get rid of it.
it's just like
those pesky kids
on scooby doo
that always foil the baddy's attempts
for world domination.
it's like nuclear waste.
eheh...
